FocusBloom Privacy Policy

FocusBloom is a productivity and focus companion app developed as part of the Technion Project in Android Development course. This privacy policy explains what information the app collects, why it is used, and how users can request deletion of their data.

Information We Collect

FocusBloom may collect and store the following information:

• Account information, such as email address, name, and Firebase user ID.
• Authentication status, including email verification, Google Sign-In or linking state, and password reset or email-change flows handled by Firebase Authentication.
• Task data, including titles, descriptions, categories, schedules, deadlines, duration, completion state, and timestamps.
• App settings, including timer defaults, task defaults, appearance preferences, focus mode defaults, AI planning preferences, and avatar preferences.
• Progress and reward data, including virtual gold, life value, avatar ownership, avatar selections, and shop activity.
• History data, including login/logout, settings changes, task activity, timer activity, and AI plan application events.
• Focus mode configuration, including selected blocked apps and related focus-mode settings.
• Friend and shared-session data, including friend requests, friend relationships, shared task invitations, shared timer participation, ready/focus status, shared focus duration, and friend-visible profile fields controlled by privacy settings.
• AI planner input and generated draft tasks when the planning feature is used.

How We Use Information

• Create and manage user accounts.
• Save and sync tasks, settings, progress, avatars, and history.
• Run focus timers and focus-mode behavior selected by the user.
• Support friend requests, shared focus sessions, and friend profile views.
• Show the correct home feed, defaults, and app state across sessions.
• Support internal testing, debugging, and course evaluation.
• Improve app reliability and user experience.

FocusBloom does not sell personal data.

Firebase Services

FocusBloom uses Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database, and Cloud Functions. Firebase may process account and app data on Google infrastructure according to Google's Firebase and Google Cloud terms and privacy practices.

Device Permissions

FocusBloom may request device permissions for app functionality:

• Notifications are used for task and timer reminders.
• Do Not Disturb and audio settings access are used only when the user enables focus-mode behavior that changes interruption settings.
• Usage access and installed-app visibility are used to show apps that can be selected for focus-mode blocking.
• Accessibility service is used only for the optional Focus Mode App Blocking feature. When enabled by the user, Accessibility Service helps detect when a user-selected blocked app is opened during an active focus session and redirects the user back to FocusBloom. FocusBloom does not use Accessibility Service to read private messages, passwords, payment information, screen text, or unrelated content from other apps. FocusBloom does not collect or share personal or sensitive user data through Accessibility Service.

Data Sharing

FocusBloom does not sell user information. Data may be processed by Firebase and Google services needed to provide authentication, sync, storage, realtime shared-session state, and AI planning features. Data may also be visible to the development team for testing, debugging, and course evaluation during internal testing.

Friend profile data is shown only inside the app and according to the user's privacy settings.

Financial and Health Data

FocusBloom does not provide real-money financial services and does not process payments. Virtual gold is an in-app progress and reward feature only.

FocusBloom is a productivity app. It is not a medical app and does not provide health, diagnosis, treatment, or therapy services.

Data Retention and Deletion

FocusBloom keeps user data while the account is active or while needed for internal testing. Users can delete their FocusBloom account and associated app data inside the app from Profile, then settings, then Delete account.

Users who cannot access the app can request account deletion through the public account deletion page: FocusBloom Account Deletion.

When account deletion is processed, FocusBloom deletes the user's Firebase Authentication account and associated app data stored for FocusBloom, including tasks, settings, focus history, gold/life/avatar preferences, friend data, shared-session data, and other account-linked app data. Some minimal records may be retained only if required for security, legal, or internal testing integrity purposes.

Children's Privacy

FocusBloom is intended for course/internal testing and general productivity use. It is not directed to children.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as the app changes.
